Welcome to Saint John’s Inclusive Catholic Community in Washington, DC. We are a spiritual home away from home for all who seek to know Christ, to grow in the love he asked of us, and to serve all God’s people worldwide, being available to all in both good and difficult times.

Journeying Through the Season of Lent
Just as the snow and ice are starting to melt in the Washington, DC region, the Church enters the Season of Lent. This pilgrimage toward the Cross comes from the 40-day fast of Jesus in the desert following his baptism in the Jordan River.
Our Lenten Journey at St. John’s
On Ash Wednesday, we welcomed people to our home at the Dandelion Collective by distributing ashes and sharing conversations with passersby. As we celebrate these days of holy fasting and working for justice, we invite you to join us for Mass each Sunday at 10:30 AM in the upper room, followed by fellowship on the main level, and an opportunity to help our friends at Feed the People, a non-profit providing meals and groceries to all those in need.
All are welcome!
Celebrating the Council of Nicea
At the celebration of the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea (AD 325), Pope Leo XIV, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Patriarchs representing the Ancient Churches, and several Bishops proclaimed the Nicene Creed together. We invite you to take a moment and listen and experience this celebration of unity we pray for the Church.
Some History about the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea I (325)
The Council of Nicaea lasted two months and twelve days. Three hundred and eighteen bishops were present. Hosius, Bishop of Cordova, assisted as legate of Pope Sylvester. The Emperor Constantine was also present. To this council we owe The Creed (Symbolum) of Nicaea, defining against Arius the true Divinity of the Son of God (homoousios), and the fixing of the date for keeping Easter (against the Quartodecimans).
More About St. John’s
We, the members of St. John’s Catholic Community, are Christians and seekers rooted in the faith of the Early Church. We are dedicated to living out the Gospel by advocating for and serving all people, especially those outcast and marginalized by society. Following Jesus’ example we welcome everyone to join us in our prayer, sacraments, fellowship, and service to all those in need.
